Mashed Potatoes For Anxiety Recipe – Mood Boosting Meal
Ok, this just sounded too good to be true. Dr. Oz said that you can make Mashed Potatoes that will reduce your anxiety! Dr. Oz invited Iron Chef Mark Fargione on to his show to make mashed potatoes using the 3 super Mood Boosting Foods (oranges, asparagus, and kefir milk) that Dr. Oz talked about in the prior segment.
Kefir is probiotic that is full of tryptophane which eases stress, anxiety, and boosts your mood by raising your serotonin levels!
Dr. Oz asked Mark if he had ever cooked with the ingredients before. He said that he has cooked with oranges and asparagus of course, but never kefir.
With the Kefir Mark made a chicken marinade out of it. The Ingredients are :
- 1 Cup of Kefir Milk
- 3 Tablespoons of Curry Powder
- Orange zest
Instead of using a lot of heavy creams and butter, Mark used Kefir (or you can use low fat milk). Mark then added some butter and whisked the potatoes and kefir mixture together.
Asparagus Recipe
Ingredients :
- Asparagus
- Orange
- Red Onion
Mark shaved the asparagus with a peeler and the turned into a curled shaped. He added them to ice water.
Orange Vinaigrette Dressing
Ingredients
- 1 Cup of orange juice
- 1 minced Shallot
- Cilantro
- 1 Cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro
- Salt
- 2 Tablespoons of black pepper
Mix all of the ingredients together for a delicious tasting Orange Vinaigrette dressing.
Dr. Oz was most interested in tasting the kefir mashed potatoes. He thought it was delicious and said it just wasn’t fair to taste it alone so he brought out 3 samples to members of the audience to try. They all seemed to love it.
