Dr Oz – Broccoli Rabe and Pasta Recipe by Anne Burrell
Pasta has always been one of Dr. Oz’s biggest diet killers.. That may have changed after Dr. Oz discovered a recipe created by Anne Burrell. He invited Anne on today’s show to share her Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Recipe. Anne Burrell is a celebrity chef on the Food Network.
Anne Burrell is a chef who is famous for her bold Italian dishes and even bolder personality. She claims that she can teach anyone to cook (she hasn’t ever met me obviously). Today’s challenge for Anne is to make a healthy AND hearty Italian pasta dish without too many carbs and calories.
Dr. Oz asked Anne why food in a restaurant always seems to taste better than it does at home. Anne said the #1 secret is salt (I felt Dr. Oz cringing) and the #2 secret is that chefs taste the food that they are going to serve the customers.
Anne Burrell Broccoli Rabe and Pasta Recipe
Anne love broccoli rabe. She said that it is great sauteed, blanched, on a sandwich, and in meat dishes. For this recipe she used the broccoli rabe to be part of a blanched pesto.
Pesto Ingredients :
- 2 bunches of broccoli rabe
- 1/2 cup of chopped pistacchios
- 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of Greek Yogurt (Plain)
- Extra virgin olive oil
Chef Burrell said that she preferred to not use pepper when she uses salt, but it is entirely optional according to your own tastes.
- Cook 1 pound of whole wheat penne pasta
- Cook 1/2 pound of Italian sausage
Step three directions :
Mix the broccoli rabe pesto with sausage and whole wheat penne. Then sprinkle with parmesian and extra virgin olive oil.
