What Is Melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone in your brain that tells your body “It’s night time” and that it’s time to go to sleep. Dr. Oz invited on Dr. Michael Breus to help him with this segment on today’s show. Dr. Breus stressed that melatonin is not a sleeping pill and should not be taken to help them fall asleep if they are stressed, or can’t seem to slow their brain down.
Why can melatonin be harmful? Well, many people take it the wrong way. They take a pill and turn out the lights and it doesn’t work.. So, they take another one. At this point they are in the overdose stage.. This can bring about harmful side effects and not take melatonin for the wrong reasons, dosages, or the wrong times. Dr. Breus said said that melatonin is not a sleeping pill, it is a sleep regulator.. It fools your body into thinking that it is night time.

So, she started to take more melatonin to help her get back to sleep. In fact she started taking two pills. She eventually started taking a third pill.
