Plants have sterols (instead of cholesterol). These compounds block cholesterol from being absorbed in our bodies.  You can find sterols in margarine. (but not the stick margarine).  Use tub margarine in place of butter.  Wheat germ is also a great way to get sterols.

Mediterranean Diet Tip #3

Eat healthy fats.  Dr. Oz said to not worry about cutting back on your fat intake.  Instead, replace bad fats with healthy fats.  Replace butter with olive oil, or canola oils.  Introduce fish like sardines and mackerel into your diet.
